The Senior Protection Assistant will form part of theRSD Unit and normally reports to the RSD Supervisor. The incumbent contributesto the RSD strategy of the operation by assisting in establish and strengthenfair and efficient RSD procedures and RSD decision-making, assisting inmonitoring  RSD trends  and in compiling and analysing RSD statisticsrelated to RSD case processing, providing counselling to, and responds toqueries from, asylum seekers and refugees, including  in the context ofthe notification of negative RSD decisions, drafts correspondence and reportsrelating to the RSD activities in the operation, maintaining accurate  andup-to date records  and data related to all work on individual  cases,assist in measures to mitigate  fraud in RSD, conducts research oncountry of origin  information COI and other issues related to RSD and maintains the operation’s local repository  of relevant information, guidelines and standards accessible to RSD staff in the operation,comply withUNHCR's standard operating procedures on RSD, ensuring timely action on RSDcase, assist in maintaining and updating ProGres or relevant database, provideadministrative support for RSD-related training activities, includingorganization of RSD workshops and meetings as required. The incumbent may beasked to carry out preliminary interviews and initial assessments, to processrefugees for RSD following established procedures when needed. Dexteritywith PRIMES and proGres Version 4 would be an advantage. The position calls forflexibility with a high degree of accountability.

-         Consistently apply International and National Law andapplicable UN/UNHCR and IASC policy, standards and codes of conduct. 

-         Provide counselling on protection issues to PoC; liaise withcompetent authorities to ensure the issuance of personal and other relevantdocumentation.

-         Support activities in protection related AGD basedprogramming with implementing and operational partners.

-         Conduct preliminary information gathering and interviews insupport of eligibility, status determination, durable solutions and socialneeds assessment.

-         Contribute to measures to identify, prevent and reducestatelessness.

-         Contribute to a country-level child protection plan as partof the protection strategy.

-         Contribute to a country-level education plan for PoC as partof the protection strategy. 

-         Monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for allprotection/solutions activities.

-         Participate in individual protection case managementincluding cases of SGBV and child protection. Monitor and report on cases ofrefoulement, expulsion and other protection incidents.

-         Assist in identifying durable solutions for PoCin voluntary repatriation, local integration and where appropriate,resettlement.

-         Contribute to the design, implementation andevaluation of protection related AGD based programming with implementing andoperational partners.

-         Draft reports, routine correspondence, updaterelevant databases and compiling statistics within the Area of Responsibility (AoR).

-         Contribute to initiatives toenhance national and local protection capacities.

-         Select PoC for preliminary interviews and decide whichrelevant information to share.

-         Enforce integrity in thedelivery of protection services by local implementing partners.

For G5 - 5 years relevant experience with High schooldiploma
